- Steam locomotives built by John Fowler were very popular in the Australian sugar industry and this locomotive is typical of many used in the sugar industry at that time.
- This was the second locomotive at the Mossman Mill, Mossman and is fitted with Joy valve gear. Retired in 1965 it lay out of use at the mill until purchased by ANGRMS in 1973. In 1974 it was transported to Brisbane and stored.
- Pioneer was transferred to our Woodford site in 1983.
