- R.D. Rex was built for the Douglas Shire Tramway operating between Mossman and Port Douglas. This Tramway, built in 1899, operated until 1959 hauling general goods, passengers, sugar cane and raw sugar.
- The Mossman Sugar Mill took over the tramway in that year and R.D.Rex was retired to a park in Mossman a few years later.
- After being donated to our Society in 1975, it was transported to Rocklea for storage before being moved to Woodford in 1979.
